Explain the project and its unique use of masonry materials and techniques:
The Cache Valley Bank project included a restore, rebuild and new construction all in one. The first building, Ephraim House, was built in the 1860's. Its brick and roof areas were carefully restored to its original condition. This process was very difficult and required extreme attention to detail. The Ephraim Bank (now Cache Valley Bank) was a rebuild. Originally built in 1906, the intent was to restore the building, but it was cost prohibitive. The design utilized original photos of the building in order to capture the historic aesthetics of the design. The building entry, brick, cornice and lintel details were matched closely to the historic photo. Granite large format stone was utilized as well as face brick and stone from the local Ephraim quarry. Cultured stone to match the local quarry was also used. New construction  connects the Ephraim House restore with the Ephraim Bank rebuild. This addition utilized brick and cultured stone to compliment and accent the original brick of the house and the bank.
