The Draper Warehouse Office building is a modern, energy efficient office complex that sticks to the areas historical roots while keeping an eye on the future, using masonry to blend the two perfectly.

Explain the project and its unique use of masonry materials and techniques.
This project utilizes a full brick exterior along with extensive use of glass. The project is very unique in its stated design goal; to look like two 100-year old warehouse buildings that had been recently renovated and combined into one building.
The brick portions of the building were designed to look like they were original 100-year old warehouse buildings. Careful attention was paid to window details on the second story of the building to reflect the architecture of a century ago.
The brick was specially manufactured for this project in a modular size (it is King size normally) to further contribute to the historic feel of the brickwork.
This single building was designed to look like two stand alone warehouse buildings that were joined together at the center with a large glass atrium. To create this illusion, extensive brickwork was included on the inside of the building to give the appearance of the ends of the old buildings being enclosed. Additionally, staircases were used on the inside to resemble the exterior iron staircases which continues the design theme.
Wherever there would have been openings in an old warehouse (warehouse doors & building corners) they used very modern glass storefronts to give the feeling that the building had been recently remodeled and updated.
This unique combination of modern glass elements with historic brick architecture gives the building a very exciting and unique feel. The attention to detail with the use of brick pop-outs and trim around the second story windows make this an outstanding example of a modern masonry project.
