Explain the project and its unique use of masonry materials and techniques.
Because of the style of home being a Prarie Style, they used the Pioneer Series, which is a "wet tumbled" brick. That means that it was tumbled before it went into the kiln for curing. This gives the brick an older "used " look. On the outside of the home and where it was cut thin for the backsplash in the kitchen, the brick was painted white. Then in the bedroom where it was used as a feature wall it was left in it's natural color (cut thin). Lastly, for the indoor / outdoor living space where it was used as a feature wall, it was laid up as full body brick. All in all, creating a very warm, inviting home.
