MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

We Support Utah's Masonry Industry
Join Utah Masonry Council council and you join an organization dedicated to making a positive difference in Utah's masonry industry. Here some of the ways we do just that.
Networking Events
An annual membership banquet, Lunch & Learn meetings, educational programs, roundtable meetings, and the “Mad About Masonry” golf tournament provide members with the opportunity to network with design professionals, contractors, peers, and customers.
Educational Programs
UMC sponsors 3-5 seminars each year that provide an opportunity to learn the latest information and techniques on masonry design, construction, and business practices while acquiring the continuing education that Utah now requires for licensing.
Project Referrals
General contractors, architects, and owners are given member profiles in response to their need for qualified mason subcontractors or products. Contact information and links are provided on this Web site.
Advertising and Promotion
UMC actively promotes the use of masonry through direct mailings, trade show participation, Skills USA sponsorship, and presentations to both professional, educational, and consumer audiences.
University Education
UMC increases the understanding of masonry by providing presentations to students attending BYU, USU, U of U, and Weber State University. Selected professors are sent to a three-day University Professors’ Masonry Workshop each year. Engineering students are provided with the current MSJC masonry design code and informed about masonry design software.
Architectural Excellence Awards Program
UMC’s Excellence in Masonry Design Awards is held in November of each year. With the cooperation of the American Institute of Architects, UMC recognizes Utah’s superior masonry designs and workmanship.
Masonry Training Programs
UMC supports the applied technology centers/colleges and is working to help them increase their enrollment and to run a state-registered training program that will help provide contractors with quality craftsmen.
Masonry Cost Guide
In order to assist architects with estimated costs, UMC collects price and installation averages from our members and includes them in our Masonry Cost Guide. Price adjustments are made annually.
Architectural / Engineering Assistance and Support
UMC provides opportunities for engineers to receive continuing education and for architects to receive AIA Learning Units. UMC also brings in a specialist each year to provide one or two masonry seminars geared specifically to them.
Workers’ Compensation Group Insurance
UMC is finally able to offer a money-saving workers’ compensation group benefit plan. Our members are commonly enjoying a 15 - 25% reduction in premium costs. One member has even saved 30%.
