Explain the project and its unique use of masonry materials and techniques.
On this project, there were several things that made it challenging and very technical in quality of work and logistics. There were over 35 mitered corners on this project that went up to as high as 32’0. There was several large radius that went from one end to the other of this whole project. Making a total of 1,140 Lineal feet of masonry radius wall!
This design takes a very experienced journeyman mason to accomplish this craftsmanship, at the same time making sure we are working our apprentices in these areas to make sure that our future journeyman masons have acquired the skill level necessary for the future of the masonry industry.
Also building with an existing school in session and in such close quarters is always a tricky situation. It takes timing, teamwork & precise planning to make the schedule possible. Also, there were five different colors of the block and four colors of mortar on this project.
With that being said, it requires effective communication and direction to accomplish the desired look!
